Final Lineup of Films Announced! Includes I SELL THE DEAD starring Ron Perlman & Dominic Monaghan! Thu, 25 Sep 2008 22:46:01 -0500 Toronto After Dark Film Festival is thrilled to announce its final lineup of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult films that will have their Toronto Theatrical Premieres at the festival this October 17-24. The final eight features revealed today include a number of exciting coups for the festival including the North American Premiere of the much-anticipated new undead comedy I SELL THE DEAD starring Ron Perlman (HELLBOY) and Dominic Monaghan (LORD OF THE RINGS).
While the box office smash hit from Thailand 4BIA (PHOBIA) should delight fans looking for a good scare, those seeking laughs should check out the wealth of comedic talent on show in the new vampire office comedy NETHERBEAST INCORPORATED starring Darrell Hammond (SNL), Jason Mewes (CLERKS) and Dave Foley (KIDS IN THE HALL). Another terrific discovery for the fest is the International Premiere of SOUTH OF HEAVEN a hyper-stylized acclaimed new crime noir film that has been compared to early Coen Brothers and David Lynch.
Sci-Fi action fans will be over the moon with the Canadian Premiere of the star-sudded dark future-set MUTANT CHRONICLES starring Thomas Jane (THE MIST), Ron Perlman (HELLBOY), Devon Aoki (SIN CITY) and John Malkovich. Also announced today is the Canadian Premiere of the Sundance Film Fest late night hit DONKEY PUNCH, found footage shocker HOME MOVIE, and 80s style zombiefest KEVIN TENNEY’S BRAIN DEAD which will be a treat for fans as the finale of the Toronto Zombie Walk! Plus some outstanding new short films from around the world will screen at Toronto After Dark, and let’s not forget a crop of kick-ass new shorts from Canadians which will be opening acts for the features!

Toronto After Dark 2008 First Films Announced! Repo, Tokyo Gore Police, Red and More! Tue, 26 Aug 2008 10:02:00 -0500 In its first wave of film titles revealed for 2008, Toronto After Dark Film Festival is proud to announce a selection of eight outstanding new horror, sci-fi, action and cult feature films that will have their Toronto Theatrical Premieres at the festival this October 17-24. The initial lineup includes a number of critically acclaimed and award-winning films from around the world including the much-anticipated new sci-fi horror musical REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA, Sundance selection revenge thriller RED based on Jack Ketchum’s novel, cult horror action movie TOKYO GORE POLICE, celebrated vampire feature LET THE RIGHT ONE IN which won Best Picture at the Tribeca Film Festival, and Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton’s dark and twisted modern fairytale, IDIOTS & ANGELS.
Rounding out the initial title list are MirageMan, an award-winning action-packed crowd-pleaser from Chile, the wickedly fun undead horror film Trailer Park of Terror, and the multiple award-winning cult comedy Who is KK Downey? Toronto After Dark Joins the Fantastic Festival Alliance! Thu, 03 Jul 2008 11:03:00 -0500 We are thrilled to announce that Toronto After Dark Film Festival has become a fully accredited member of the prestigious North American Fantastic Festival Alliance. NAFFA is comprised of professional North American festivals dedicated to presenting the best new independent and international fantasy, science fiction, horror, animation, exploitation, experimental and cult movies with a dedication to quality and respect for the filmmaker’s work. Only six other film festivals have been given the NAFFA seal of approval, so this is huge honour for Toronto After Dark, only its third year.
Toronto After Dark’s 2008 Call for Submissions Ends with a Record Over 700 Film Entries! Mon, 30 Jun 2008 08:04:00 -0500 Our 2008 call for entries has now ended and we would like to thank the hundreds of filmmakers from around the world who chose to submit their works to our festival. We received another record amount of entries this year, a staggering over 700 films! If you are waiting to see your status update change on the withoutabox submission system, please be patient as due to the record volume, it is taking additional time to update all records. Our little worker droids in the programming department will be spending the next few weeks reviewing every single one of our entries before we make our final selection for screening at this year’s 3rd Annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival. All filmmakers will be notified of our selection decision by August 31.

A big thank you to all the fans, filmmakers and supporters who helped make the Second Annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival, 7 Amazing Nights of New Horror & Fantasy Cinema, Oct. 19-25, 2007, such a huge success!
