Ultimate Fighting Championship took a step toward regaining its foothold in the mixed martial arts heavyweight division when it announced today that former champion Randy Couture, 45, would return to the octagon after a year-long layoff and take on former WWE professional wrestler Brock Lesnar in a five-round title bout Nov. 15 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Purse share was not discussed during this morning's conference call making the MGM Grand Las Vegas matchup official. De La Hoya was listed as an 8-5 favorite by the Mirage. After three weeks of negotiations, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao made it official this morning, agreeing to fight in a 12-round non-title bout Dec. 6 in what's expected to be a blockbuster pay-per-view event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The former light-heavyweight champion faces two felony counts and four misdemeanor counts in a car chase last month in which he allegedly fled from police and hit several cars in Costa Mesa. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, a former light-heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was charged Monday with reckless driving, evading arrest and hit-and-run driving in a destructive car chase from Costa Mesa to Newport Beach last month, prosecutors said.
