Herman wins final BMX World Cup as Robinson and Martin grab titles

The United States continues to display its strength in BMX racing as David Herman and Donny Robinson went one-two in the final round of the 2008 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in France on Saturday. With the victory, Herman moved himself into second-place in the final World Cup standings, only to be bested by Robinson who grabbed the title as Americans swept the first four overall spots. The only American woman in contention, Arielle Martin finished second, which was good enough to earn her the overall Supercross World Cup title on the season.
USA Cycling Development Foundation announces new Kuck Scholarship

USA Cycling introduced today the Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarship Fund, a new collegiate program which will annually award two scholarships to student-athletes who excel in the areas of cycling safety, advocacy and education. Funded by the USA Cycling Development Foundation, the Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the collegiate cyclist whose name the program now bears.

Over the past two weeks in American cycling the final pair of representatives to the U.S. Pro Board of Trustees were elected, USA Cycling began accepting invitations for Club of the Year, Americans won two golds at the UCI Road World Championships, the USA Cycling Junior National Team wrapped up its final European trip of the season, the 2009 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Calendars were announced, the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships went off in California, new NRC and Mountain Bike Promoters Summits were announced, the cyclo-cross national calendar continued, coaching clinics approached and much more....
Two collegiate cycling conferences welcome new leadership

The North Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (NCCCC) will be welcoming a new director during the 08-09 season, while the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC) embraced new leadership this fall. With the appointment of Mark Guthart as the new conference director for the NCCCC and Joe Kopena as the primary conference director for the ECCC, collegiate cycling is looking forward to the future.
Elite track nationals conclude with final 10 titles

The 2008 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships concluded on Sunday as the final 10 Stars-and-Stripes jerseys were claimed over the weekend. Big winners included Colby Pearce, who claimed championships in both the points race and Madison, and Cari Higgins and Jimmy Watkins - both of whom swept their respective sprint events with wins in the match sprint, keirin and team sprint races. On Sunday, Kacey Manderfield also claimed both the elite and U23 title in the women's points race.
Phinney claims third national title with new track record

Taylor Phinney set a new track record in the men's 4,000-meter individual pursuit and won his third national title of the week on Friday at the 2008 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships at the ADT Event Center velodrome at the Home Depot Center. Phinney clocked a time of 4:23.514 to establish the new best mark. In other titles decided on Friday, Kimberly Geist claimed the women's individual pursuit, Cari Higgins won the women's keirin, Jimmy Watkins took the men's sprint and Daniel Holloway and Shelly Olds captured scratch race crowns.
